Sunday 8th November celebrate the 1970’s classic!

Sunday 8th November celebrates the invention of the 1970’s classic The Harvey Wallbanger! #HarveyWallbangerDay A blend of vodka, orange juice and Galliano liqueur. Fashionable in the 1970’s, it’s essentially a screwdriver (vodka and orange juice) with Galliano liqueur floated on top.

Galliano liqueur http://www.galliano.com was the butt of many a bartender’s joke years ago. The towering bottle didn’t fit on the back bar and its potent vanilla flavour, meant it didn’t work well in cocktails.

In the 1970’s the Galliano marketing team set about popularising the product. They they designed a party kit with a cartoon character named Harvey Wallbanger. It became a staple of the brunch menu in the US.

This classic is one of the easiest cocktails to prepare at home:

Add the vodka and orange juice into a tall glass over ice and stir. Float the Galliano on top.

Enjoy! #HarveyWallbangerDay
