We support the #wemakeevents launch today
Did you know that the UK’s events industry contributes circa £100bn to the economy each year? To put that into context, that’s 3x the size of domestic tourism and 5x the size of the hotel industry!
Here at The Maverick Bar Co. we’ve seen first-hand the effect COVID-19 has had, not only on our own business but also many other small businesses we work with. These businesses are the backbone of events and like us they have fallen through the cracks of government support.
We’ve been hit, with many amazing events that we were working on being forcibly cancelled and no clear path available as to what comes next.
The industry will be back, however lots of amazing suppliers won’t be unless the government takes action now. That’s why we are supporting the #wemakeevents launch today (30th September). The campaign highlights the urgent support needed for the events industry and from 8pm tonight, thousands of venues and places of work will be lit in red #lightinred alongside unique shafts of light, projections, art installations and outreach to government and media to raise awareness and drive change.
