13th May 2021 is World Cocktail Day! #WorldCocktailDay

Did you know that the cocktail was a British invention in the early 19th century? Although first invented in Britain, cocktails were reimagined and reinvented in the United States. The Americans brought to the bar a wider array of liquors and other ingredients to develop many of the serves we know today.

What makes a great cocktail? In our opinion, it’s quality branded spirits, freshly pressed citrus (no sweet sticky concentrates here), lots of good quality ice and mixing the ingredients in the correct rations.

Today we’re celebrating with the very fruity (and delicious) Blackberry Whiskey Smash (we have literally been smashing these out of the park in our virtual cocktail masterclasses)! #virtualcocktailclass

A fruit forward cocktail that isn’t too sweet. The perfect spring and early summer serve.

Muddle the blackberries, mint and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker, add the lemon juice, whiskey and ice. Shake vigorously until chilled. Double strain over crushed ice into a tumbler. Garnish with a blackberry and sprig of fresh mint.

Cheers!
